Coldwater, Michigan | If you haven't cleaned the carb in 13 years, that would be a good place to start. In fact, I you are going to do that I would start back at the fuel tank with new gas line, new filter, make sure tank is clean. Clean carb! Depending on which carb, could be some specific issues there. I mess with 30-40 year old engines and starting at the gas tanks is one of the first issues, then the fuel line and filter, then the carb. One brand of carbs was and is a recurring issue even on some of the newer Briggs engines. They are good carbs, just have certain needs when you get out there a ways.
No more hours than you are getting on it, I would almost guess varnish in the gasoline.
Might start with a strong dose of Seafoam in your gas. If that sort of works you probably have a dirty fuel system.
