SW Ont | When phone has wi-fi turned on it should displays a wi-fi signal strength meter.
No need to turn off the cell signal to get it to display.
On mine (it's an android) the wi-fi strength is displayed beside the cell signal strength.
Of course battery life is reduced when both systems are running,
EDIT to add:
Go to settings, and turn wi-fi on
It should search and then display the names of all the wi-fi networks it can see.
The wi-fi symbols will show the strength of each -- even if you aren't connected to any
If you have the phone connected to a network, the icon bar on the top of the front screen will show it's connection strength.
