South Georgia | For what it's worth, I got several responses on Facebook. The replies seemed to trend toward yes as you go further south, but nobody said it was a definite always beneficial application. The further north and west you go (North Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri), the more the answer was a definite no.
Might put out a couple strips again this year and see what I think, assuming my test doesn't get hurricaned away like last time.
