Subject: RE: Crow damage

nw NC
I've used Avipel ( http://avipelshield.com/) for a few years now. Crows used to be severe problem here but between me shooting a few ( hard to get close enough to do much good) and then West Nile virus killing millions of them a few years ago, crows are few here now. Wild turkey took their place though! My corn fields planted with Avipel seed treatment has little if any damage from turkey now. They may clean up any uncovered seed on the ground where planter lifts from ground and get the effect that Avipel imparts to them. They may pull up one or two seedlings but the treated kernel must cause them gastric distress quickly so they learn a lesson and leave the field.
