Traverse City MI | We cut hay with a 13' discbine spread the width of the cutter bar and either bale small squares with an SB541 (around 5k a year) or round bale the rest. We make 4x4 or 4x5 rounds around 800 a year. Right now we are using 2 bar rakes on a bridge hitch and raking 2.5 passes into one to round bale but it takes quite a while because the rakes aren't wide enough to pull the rows together like i would like. If you don't flop the row over just right the windrow is bigger on one side and it make the bale hard to keep square. I am thinking a wheel rake would be our best option but I don't want to put that much hay in a row for the square baler so my question is how well do they rake of the rakes aren't spread wide open? | |
