North central TX | Absolutely puff. That's why I try to do it while they're less than 24 hrs more so 12 hrs old. More than that and they won't lay still while I walk up close...I normally bring the lariat with me that way if they do get up I can try to rope them before they run. Doesn't always work, but I'm better than 90% over the years I'd say. Did have a bad experience this year tagging a heifer that young though. Apparently she got in the brush or briers and pulled the tag out. Now shes got a split ear. Only one I've had do that though in all my years around cows. | |
