The weird thing is "here" most corn will sprout normally, unless you planted through one of those sidehill seeps at the wrong moment in time. I have seen corn unroll its "spike" underground and start to leaf out, obviously can't push through then. However everything else comes up just fine. Almost seems like the seed "drowned" in the seep spot while everything else that by all logic should have ended up as replant emerged great.
