Ashburn, GA, (very close to Heaven!)
  1. Veris Data. Turn it on in the sandy areas. This method requires minimal ground-truthing. It yields results the first year.
  2. Yield Maps. Some farmers take the yield maps from the previous year and automatically turn it on in the areas of lowest yield. This is good, but is my least favorite way of an "automated" approach.
  3. Soil Maps. Turn it on in the sandy areas. This is somewhat automated, and marginally effective at best. This method needs a lot of ground truthing.
  4. Knowledge of the field. Above ground symptoms of nematode pressure are evident to the consultant and the farmer. Set up the field on a screen, draw polygons, and set your Telone. This is slow, tedious, not very automated, but not bad, and needs lots of ground truthing.
  5. In Season Aerial Imagery. If taken during times of stress, this could be pretty revealing. We've used some In-Time imagery before, then ground-truthed it. It may not be good for the present year, but can help the next.
