Good for you. We used to run some state ground and it kinda worked out like that. Stemmy stuff put up in july but made good grinding hay.
Then they started cutting the fields up and put a bunch of it in CRP (?) and that was the end of that. Poorly managed area. Amazing lack of game birds on the property due to lack of milo and wheat acres.
