I don't see why  pulling off  coil wires  one at a time  wouldn't work.   

Instead of  risking   tearing  a  boot, or  wire out of the boot,    can you just unhook the  plug-in that drives  the   coil? 

would you happen to have a  temp gun? 

I  have a   8.1L   propane   power unit  that   is   pretty hard on   plug wires..    Even with the  heat  shield  sheathing.    Check yours closely!
