I did a lift cylinder on my D6c recently just like you're doing....big pipe wrench, 4' extender pipe.
Pull out the locking set screw, if it has one, heat with torch... not super hot.

Tilt cylinder was a different story...ended up having to take it to Cat because there's nothing to get a solid gold on to. Their hyd bench didn't even know it was doing anything.
Said they routinely torque stuff to 16,000 ft lb.
