I have run into a couple customers with an extended warranty on their cars in my shop. After the first company that told me where I had to buy my parts, what I could charge for them and what my labor was going to be, I told anyone who had such a warranty they had to pay the bill and get reimbursed from their warranty.
Same deal with insurance companies.

We used to have a retired tech in our area that became an adjuster for several of those warranty companies. He tried hard to screw over the companies and make them pay more than they had too. Really enjoyed the guy, hated when we had to do work on those warrantees though. They always try to screw their customers. |
