Pittsburg, Kansas

In the presentation Lustig talks about a couple hundred years ago we ate sugar in single digit pounds in a year. Now Americans on average consume around 100 pounds of the stuff annually. Our bodies were never designed to handle that much glucose/fructose.

Cutting out the sugar alone would benefit a lot of people and help with their weight. Ones like myself that have had too much for too many years and developed diabetes have to follow a more rigid diet with more carbohydrate restrictions.
