Madison Co. Virginia | I realize that bacteria and viruses may respond differently, so take this for what it's worth.
I wash my parlor towels that I use for cleaning cows in a common residential washer. If I dry them in a dryer for a week straight, they begin to take on a musty odor. I think I'm justified in associating that odor with residual bacteria. I can cut that smell by adding bleach to the washer. If I dry my cow towels outside in the sun, I never experience that smell, even without using bleach.
Sunlight drying is more sanitary than any dryer ever will be. | |
