I don't know if this is right or not, but I simply have a 9 pin 10 foot serial cable (bought at local store) that connects from the back of the 500 9 pin Y cable (one end for keypad other for GPS out) to the Insight cable near the application module. Maybe I should have used the null modem that was sent with the Insight, but it worked without it. I have done it for two years.
