| You're in a good area of the state: within the CORS network AND close to the interstate, which means good cell phone coverage.
I'm not a fan of modems for three reasons:
1) It does not give you any control over the correction signal you will receive;
2) The modem is dedicated to the tractor and thus the wireless connection;
3) The modem does not deliver any other benefits found on PDA phones.
I started off with the modem 5 years ago, but quickly came to the conclusion that it is not ready for primetime. That's why we developed the program InTime Connection for the PDA cell phone. The phone allows a lot more flexibility: while streaming you can look up commodity prices, stock quotes, weather data, E-mail, and even send text messages. If it does not need to be in the tractor, take it with you for all your contacts.
The ITC program allows more control over the correction data you will be receiving from the CORS: it can act like a modem or you can customize the settings to fit your situation.
To be fair to others: other ways to connect to the CORS have been described on this forum . It all depends on your preference. | |
