Subject: Re: Extreme Solar Storms

I don't know, they can still feed cows and make hay with no electricity. However one thing is sure, the US power grid is in poor shape and the additions and switch to less reliable power sources like wind and solar might be the wrong investment to make. We can't directly control either and since this article deals with the main distribution grid where the problems lay the energy investment made in a large wind farm will provide no power when not connected.

On a side note i have contemplated building a solar/wind array to power things in the event of an emergency. But the more I thingk about a solar panel and wind turbine, the less sure I am a tornado in the area won't rip it to shreads rendering it useless. Back to the Kohler generator.
