Central, IA | It would port my cell, but not the local office number.
I've learned more about the phone exchanges in the last 2 hours then I ever thought I would. It appears that the telco's are federally mandated to allow numbers to be ported away, but the recipient of the number has to have a presence within the rate center. Well, all of the our local prefix's except for one are controlled by Windstream.
The owner of the other prefix recently started offering phone service through a local ISP's fiber network. I'm going to check with them tomorrow and see if they can offer anything. | |
