Subject: RE: morbidity rates in nursing homes

39.48, -82.98

Okay, fair enough. Their goal may be to manage it as close to 1.0 as possible.

Every pandemic/epidemic/outbreak eventually drops below 1.0. A rational goal would be to manage the number of sick people at a level high enough to build herd immunity but with enough slack in the healthcare system for the occasional ebb and flow in new cases.

So far as waiting on a vaccine -- forget it. It may happen -- and I hope it does -- but there is a good chance that the only way to prevent future flare-ups is to let about 60% of the population get sick.
