I was an expert bike mechanic at probably just a year or two older. I never got a new bike, I always got my cousins old worn out bikes and had to fix them to ride them. Patrick
Same here. Not hand-me-down bikes, but bikes pulled off the scrap metal pile at the local landfill. I learned the frustration early on of mounting 27x1.25 tires with three screwdrivers. I think the record was three flats in row. Each one caused by pinching the tube while mounting the last flat repair. My tubes had more patches than not before I learned how to mount tires more carefully. |
