We don't hedge but set packer contracts on all of our Holstein. We haven't sold a cash animal in years. I know this isn't ag talk approved but it is what has kept us profitable. It requires knowing your cost of production to a t. It takes knowing your genetics and performance. We look at it as group in group out. So next cost of calves doesn't affect previous close out.
