South Eastern VA
Soil test is a MUST.

My neighbor used a lot in his garden and his yields we’re getting worse every year. After years of me telling him to get it tested he finally agreed and the ph was over 9.

Every winter he would dump all the ashes from his fire place AND would dump about 15-20 bags of lime on his garden that measured about 40ft x 60ft give or take. Lol

So in your case since you seem to have a lot of wood ash questions I would say you are probably fine unless you are dumping an ungodly amount on a small place.
