North Central Texas | There are newer versions. Like clockwork, a bunch of folks get mad and it triggers a review of the packer and feeder. Should be another Gipsa funded report in 06 or 07. There was also a similar report about 5 years ago that I think ksu authored but it may have been one of the other colleges.
In the 80s the big 3 held less than 60% and by 1990 they had 75%. Alternative marketing was also taking off. Consolidation and these hidden prices were the cry. Boy how times change. The next report gives us the big 4 with 78% of the market and up to 50% using alternative marketing. | |
