I’m in Missouri also. If you have well drained soil and some slope to it like I do you can start with some 6 inch base rock and cover it with 1 inch base gravel. Works great for when we have times like now that are 2 times over average rainfall. Solid but isn’t cheap. If you have hard-pan type soil then tile and concrete which is even more expensive. If you go dirt lots it’ll be a mess with conditions like we have now and when you haul off manure or pile up manure you’ll lose dirt and create a hole.
