Subject: RE: Bale grazing on crop ground

Have been doing it for almost a decade now, almost always on corn ground. We use bale feeders and go out with a pitchfork once a day and clean up any good stuff thrown on the ground. One pass with a disk has taken care of it for years, sometimes the rototiller if it's really bad but only done that twice now. Two years ago just did one pass with the vibra chisel and then seeded in oats with a disc drill, worked really well. Don't feed in your ditches, spring thaw and runoff will take away all your nutrients, and don't burn it off as you'll lose all your nutrients also. Best way to capture those nutrients is by letting all that organic matter decompose where it lies. Best corn this year came from where the bale grazing was.
