To the OP, yes. Corn, cotton, beans,rice, and wheat make up the bulk of our crops. Also have potatoes and now some peanuts. Lots of rice as you get into the southern Bootheel and northern Arkansas. Lots of irrigation. Water table is high. No restrictions on how much water we can put on. Variable soils. From light sand to gumbo. If you took 55 to 57 you drove within a mile of my house at Charleston and 57 splits the bulk of our farming operation in two east of Charleston. All dryland. Routinely grow 220+ bushel corn and 60+ bushel beans. Also have a cattle farm in southern IL. Good farm ground in pockets over there.


Yes it’s mostly good ground. We farm on both sides just north of where 55 starts in Arkansas. Goes from light cotton soils to heavy gumbo rice ground really quick but both soils will produce well, just takes a different management style to work both.

Agree also on the water availability. Dang near 100% of our farm is within sight of the river levee which means almost unlimited ground water.
