Thanks. That was what I thought it might be. Seems like there is something to doing the way people have done them for a long time. We soak pintos overnight, and then we bring them to a boil and keep them boiling for awhile before dumping the water and doing it again. We try to do this four times before we start adding the side pork, onions, and peppers. Maybe that's why we're in our 70s and still here??
