I have been to Fiji on mission trips multiple times. Hibiscus flowers are plentiful there. Women often wear them in their hair and, if my information is correct, the stems are often used as drinking straws. They do have beautiful flowers. A bit of trivia, the main highway on Fiji's second largest island is named the Hibiscus Highway.
