Your explaination fits what I'm dealing with. I'll check tomorrow but I don't think there are any splines to adjust as BHTN suggested- the 750 must have been different. The 2"bolt, going through the 2 holes on the cast depth control arm and spindle, is tight. The cast will not allow you to tighten any more-it's too stiff to flex. I did concider taking the cast depth control arm to my neighbor who could maybe lay a hardened bead of weld in the grove and grind is smooth. may even last longer then a new one. Not sure if it's be worth hard surfaceing and grinding the spindle.
