You can do a web search for salad bowl finish, cutting board finish or butcher block finish and find hundreds of choices. I don't have any idea about what you can purchase in your area or what it would cost to ship products to your area.

I would suggest using a finishing product that is FDA approved for direct food contact. Watco butcher block oil is a mineral oil that is FDA approved for direct food contact. It also contains a hardner that provides a very durable, long lasting, varnish like finish. You will need to apply 4 or 5 coats of this finish and sand lightly between coats with 320 or 400 grit very fine sandpaper.

Another option would be 4 or 5 coats of mineral oil which is very affordable and can be purchased at a drug store. You will not need to sand between coats. However, you will need to apply more oil every few months. After applying the mineral oil you can apply Howard cutting board conditioner which is a mineral oil and wax. Two or three coats of the conditioner will provide a fairly long lasting finish.

The cutting boards in the first two photos are finished with 5 coats of Watco butcher block oil. The cutting board in the last photo was finished with 5 coats of mineral oil and 2 coats of Howard cutting board conditioner.
