I have an HP tablet (from 2015) that started life as Windows 8 and I managed to upgrade to Windows 10. The challenge I have seen for major updates has been storage space. Make sure you do some housekeeping. I don't recall the spot, but there is a way to have Windows check for files it doesn't need (temp files, old OS versions in case an update failed etc). Get that done, and there's a better chance current updates will work. I personally also had to remove some major programs to get enough space to do the big updates. My tablet is only 32gb storage (my phone is 4x that!). Once done, I have enough space to reinstall some stuff, but I never use that tablet for anything but a reader anymore. You could also turn off sleep mode while it's downloading and trying to update. Keep it plugged in of course. There are deeper ways to reset the update process as well, but I don't recall the steps. |
