Southwest Missouri | I do a fair number of dissolutions. Nine years as a lawyer and 27 years as a judge. As a lawyer, I could only argue for what I thought was right. As judge, I get to do what I think is right (as long as the appellate courts agree).
Prenuptial agreements work if done correctly. Each party needs to disclose his or her assets and liabilities. That way people know what they are bargaining. Each side should have a lawyer so they are informed of the legalities. There are other things that are needed, but just get a good lawyer for specific advice.
I was 55 when I married. I had a fair amount of assets. My wife did not have much. Perfect case for a prenup. I did not get one. It is 10 years later. We are good for each other. We work through any issues we might have. Life is good. | |
