Star Prairie, WI | Ford V-10 is very happy at high rpms, but not much for fuel mileage. My only experience with them is in a motorhome chassis, 7mpg average, but never had a problem with one.
GM doesn't put the Allison in the vans because of space issues, and derates the duramax heavily to go in front of the 4L80 trans.
I am a Chevy guy, but in your case, I'd go with the V-10 Ford gas, mileage penalty will not be huge with ambulance type service. | |
