I've been using Skype right now for about 5 months to keep in touch with my fiance and family while working in the oilfield. So far it has worked well in Venezuela and France especially since I wouldn't get to talk with them otherwise. $12.95 to call anywhere in the world is a lot cheaper than a cell phone/satellite phone in another country.
