I would definitely go with the tri-tronic. I have two shorthairs and have used them for several years now. I had a problem with one collar way out of warrenty and sent it in and received a brand new one. I don't know if they will do that every time but made a believer out of me. Also the tri-tronics seem to be a lot hotter than the other brands. My youngest dog can be hard headed but about level 3 will turn her.

If you get one be sure not to put it on the dog and immediately hit it. You want the dog to have it on for 30 minutes or longer before being hit. This way the dog doesn't associate you putting the collar on and immediately being shocked.

Oh yeah, if you can afford it get the G2 exp model if you think you will ever have another dog to use a collar on. That way all you have to buy is another collar. The model I run is a Classic 70 G2 exp. If I can be of any help just ask.
