If you are going to make your own drag chains make sure you use 3/8" square twisted link chain aprrox. 26" long. Regular chain whether log chain or square chain will not do the job as well as square link twisted. The square link twisted will stay put on the ground better than regular link chain and gather more soil. The regular chain links will tend to dance more and give little benefit when it is really needed. Also make sure to run chain brackets as low to the ground as possible without dragging trash or soil. This also helps in getting the chain to gather the soil in front of it. We have tried many variations over the years from size to length and the above described works.
