While Gmail loves to read our mail, it has a great SPAM filter which sometimes does go wonky.
If that is where they're ending up, you might consider setting up a FIRE-IN box with a filter in Gmail that sorts your mail, sending all in-bound emails to the Fire-IN box; even a IN-church box could be set up, making your prioritizing job quicker at a glance!
