Subject: RE: Disk vs. VT tool

Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska
Several years ago I was needing a better disc so I bought a Landoll VT. I was mainly wanting to just chop up residue and smooth the ground to plant. It does both at a faster speed than a conventional disc. It will not get all of the weeds but most of them due to the 10 degree disc angle. No problem going through anything though. And in big weeds it chops them up enough you won’t have much left. My main reason for going with a Landoll was they use smooth blades which can be rolled to sharpen. Now, I see Landoll is building an adjustable hand VT. That would be good to have. More angle to take out weeds like a disc or less angle when you just need to chop things up. I don’t see any reason to own both unless you want to disc deep for some reason. VT machines are not made to run deeper than 3-4”
