Subject: You want an 1890.....

Hillsboro, AL

A 1690 only does 15" rows.  I have been running an 1890 for 2 years now.  I does a good job of planting.

But, it is a  pain in the butt to adjust.  You can't reach the adjustments for seed depth and closing wheel pressure under the main frame very easily at all.  The seed sensors are very difficult to reach and it takes a couple of hours to take them apart to where you can clean them.  Reaching the units to grease them is very difficult.  The seed monitoring system from Deere is a total joke.  It will not monitor seed blockage at the seed boot.

As I said, it does a good job of planting, but service and maintenance is a dreaded task here.  In field adjustments are very hard to make and time consuming.  I have put a thousand acres of wheat thru on in 6 days over the last 2 weeks.
