East Central Ia, S. Waterloo | I've got an old Vermeer PT12 I picked up as a project. After much patience I ended up at a construction equipment salvage yard and found the drive chain for a Caterpillar grader to be the same pitch, 160 I believe. The Caterpillar chain runs in oil so it was in good shape. Took a winter to make and weld on the brackets for the teeth but saved a bunch over buying the chain from Vermeer. Right after buying the salvage chain a local bearing place found a Chinese 160 with a flat link for about the same price as the salvage, would have been easier to weld on the bracket but oh well.
