Madison Co. Virginia | Does it have the hi-lo shuttle shift on the left side of the steering wheel? If so, the problem could be in that system somewhere. A clutch shouldn't give the issues you describe.
The puzzling thing is, the hi-lo shift is spring loaded on the low side, so low oil pressure should just knock it into low speed, not disengage it altogether.
Another possibility is that the shift linkage is badly out of adjustment. When it stops and won't move, it possibly just dropped into neutral, and takes a lot of wiggling the shift linkage to get it to engage again.
5k sounds too high for it's condition. I'd be looking closer to 3k with potentially major undiagnosed transmission issues. | |
