| Do you REALLY want to update it?
Apple is well known for their planned obsolescence with their updates.
The 'updates' have turned my pad 2 to an almost worthless brick. Surfing is barely doable, I am limited to a very small amount of apps that won't choke it and slow it down so badly it's all but useless. It used to be far faster.
If you really want to update it, try and do a full shut down then a full restart when fully charged and try it then.
