Nebraska | I was just trying to decide this for myself last week. I ended up going with a AC/DC 3 joule fencer and bought a battery tender brand 15W solar panel for $75 and it was still cheaper than the fencers with smaller solar panels built together.
It’s not as handy to move but this is going on a pasture that I won’t be needing to move it anytime soon. I felt like this combination would last longer wand not run out of juice, but I have never had any real experience with the solar panels that are built on the fencer with internal batteries.
