We use Verdict and if we don't screw it up we have no issues.  Like you said expensive but no mares tail is worth a lot as it's currently the only resistant weed we know we have.  It would be like leaving out Atrazine in corn.  Two more trips with Roundup is generally our program in beans, one trip in corn with Dual and Roundup and we have no issues and a clean crop in the fall.  Only issue we generally have is if we have a dry spell and corn twists, letting sun in so grass and weeds can get another hold.  With a good canopy like the last two years no issues, but a year like '16 and the grass comes on late.
