Subject: ooma phone, or other Wi-Fi phones?

NC Iowa
i have been looking for a way to drop my landline and i think ooma phone may be the answer. it looks like basic service is free, just have line taxes of $3.99 a month. you can upgrade to premier service with more features for money. it looks like i start out with a new number, and then port my existing number over to the ooma phone. the reviews say it is hard to cancel service, and they don't want to let you port your number over to some other service if you are unhappy with them. i have had my home phone number for a long time and i want to keep it available to me.

there is magic jack and maybe some others.

is the ooma a good choice or is there better wifi phone providers out there to consider?

Is The voice quality acceptable, or would that be an issue?
