The 4.7 is not even close to the 318. The 4.7 (family) started with a clean sheet of paper. The 4.7 shares the allot of common trates with the 3.7 used in Libberties, Durangos and other Jeeps and is the base engine in the Ram 1500. From my experience the 3.7 is a dog and a fuel grinder. I suspect that the 4.7 in not outstanding, but I never owned one.
