| That makes sense Jon. I couldn't remember enough about ground planes to speak intelligently to it. Just as critical though is the cable going to the antenna, particularly if transmitting. Without a good, shielded cable, the ground plane affects reception, and in some cases, the ground plane can act as an antenna. I ran into some strange problems where the transmission was bleeding into the phone lines, on the TV and many other things because the cable was not shielded properly.
Edited to add: The cable was not shielded or terminated properly.
