Kingston,Mi | After our flood event in 1986, emergency funds were available to remove debris and deposited earth among other restoration activities. That was when ASCS held the purse strings, when I worked flood remediation in central Missouri after the flood of 1993, we repaired dikes and levees and cleaned up debris. I was in Missouri 6 months after the last flood event and they were still picking up trash. Seemed like every spare tire, oil can and pop bottle left behind some trailer house had floated down the Missouri and at one field we found a bundle of trusses for a garage or house lodged in trees in fence row. We found human remains (knuckle bones) from a burial that was washed out, we turned that site over to the state archeologist and returned after the site was cleared. | |
