Subject: RE: Deere versus Vermeer

SC Iowa
Never had a Deere, just Vermeer. Currently 605N.

Speed- I normally run 8 mph, can run 12, have run 16 in lighter hay with rain on the way.

short hay -throttle back and drive fast

wind- depends on the wind, have baled with the front wheels nearly against the v-rake and still had the windrow blow out from under the tractor

heavy windrow-it will eat a bunch, sometimes 2 windrows thrown together will catch under the tractor and roll up, will still eat it no problem

bale starting-I ease into the first 20 feet of a windrow then go, never had a problem with this bailer but the older models needed this procedure

loading net-threading the net is very easy- loading sucks, they are heavy

wrapping time-I suspect they are about the same, bale speed would be about the same

HP- I think the Vermeer is a little heavier so would pull a little harder in the hills

never done stalks with this one
