I would imagine 1" plate can make a few grown men grunt lifting that in place. I had a 1/2" 2 MOA plate at 1,100 and the one thing I've noticed is its harder to hear impact, especially in wind.
Have been adding more IPSC sized targets 1/4" thick from 750yds out to 1,200, I give up size but man they ring solid, haven't noticed any damage. A 4'x4' would sure be nice for the wind. Nice target.

Anything 600 and out 1/4" AR500 will hold up fine. I have an old 1/4" mild steel at 600 yds, it wiill dent with 6.5 and up, but even a hot 300 win mag won't punch a hole at 600
